We’ve called for the chief executives of Scottish public bodies to be held personally responsible should their organisations fail to meet mandatory climate change targets. Transform Scotland has made this demand as part of its response to the Scottish Government’s consultation on ‘The Climate Change (Duties of Public Bodies Reporting Requirements) (Scotland) Order 2015’.<\/p>\n

John Webster, author of Transform Scotland’s response, said:<\/p>\n

“We’re pleased to see the Scottish Government making reporting on climate change a mandatory requirement for Scotttish Public Bodies.<\/em><\/p>\n

“However, we are convinced that the public sector is only likely to take this seriously if they face sanctions should they fail to take action. Repeated failure to comply will most likely be due to lack of direction from the top so the Chief Executive should be held accountable and replaced if failing to perform against this very important area of environmental concern.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
