The Scottish Parliament will this lunchtime (Thursday 17 September) debate the 20th Anniversary of the National Cycle Network in Scotland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In advance of the debate, we have issued a parliamentary briefing highlighting the role of the NCN in promoting cycle tourism in Scotland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Colin Howden, Director of Transform Scotland said:<\/p>\n

“Our 2013 research report, <\/em>The Value of Cycle Tourism, found that the total value of cycle tourism \u2014 by residents and visitors, touring and leisure cycling \u2014 in Scotland is up to \u00a3239m per year. As well as making rural communities more vibrant and contributing to local economies, cycle tourism is also good for public health and for the environment.”<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
