‘Transform Platform\u2019 election series:<\/strong>
\nParties outline vision for the future of sustainable transport in Scotland<\/strong><\/p>\n

Transform Scotland [1] is tomorrow (Thursday 28th) holding the first of its \u2018Transform Platform\u2019 election events in the run-up to the Holyrood elections in May. The series of events will provide Scotland\u2019s main political parties with an opportunity to outline their manifesto pledges for sustainable transport. The events will also provide an opportunity for the transport sector to engage with representatives from the political parties.<\/p>\n

The first event, ‘Transform Platform for Labour’, is being held tomorrow (Thursday) evening at the City Chambers in Edinburgh, will see Labour transport spokesperson David Stewart MSP outline some of Scottish Labour\u2019s proposals for sustainable transport. See https:\/\/transform.scot\/blog\/events\/transform-platform-for-labour\/<\/a> for further details of the event. The event is being hosted by Cllr Andrew Burns, Leader of The City of Edinburgh Council.<\/p>\n

To coincide with the first of the event series, Transform Scotland is launching its own ‘platform’ outlining its vision for the future of sustainable transport in Scotland. This document outlines what we want to see in order to ensure a sensible Scottish transport system for pedestrians, cyclists, public transport passengers, and road users.<\/p>\n

Phil Matthews, Chair of Transform Scotland, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very happy to welcome David Stewart MSP to speak at the first of our \u2018Transform Platform\u2019 events. We\u2019re looking forward to hearing David outline Labour\u2019s proposals ahead of the May’s Holyrood elections. Our events will present a fantastic opportunity for Scotland\u2019s political parties to engage both with members of the transport industry and with members of the public in order to discuss the future of Scotland\u2019s transport system.<\/em><\/p>\n

Phil continued:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn tandem with our election events, we are pleased to be launching our own ‘platform’ outlining our vision of a more sensible transport system for Scotland. We have identified a set of simple measures that clearly outline solutions to some of Scottish transport’s key problems. We feel that all of Scotland’s political parties could commit to implementing these measures should they be elected in May. We\u2019re hoping that each of the political parties take our demands on board to ensure positive actions are taken over the course of the next parliament.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
