In our response we highlight the benefits that a proactive approach to modern technology could have for taxi users.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Adobe-Spark.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3235 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Adobe-Spark-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Adobe Spark\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Adobe-Spark-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Adobe-Spark-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"\">We can see many positive benefits to the use of modern technology and smart apps:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Being able to see fare estimate before you enter the vehicle<\/li>\n<li>Increased safety by seeing the make, model and name of the driver instantly<\/li>\n<li>Increase instant feedback on being able to instantly review quality of driver; this may help improve quality of driver behaviour<\/li>\n<li>Greater ease of use for consumers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gillian Winbourn, spokesperson for Transform Scotland, said:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;For the past few years we have promoted sharing\u00a0in the form of car clubs and bike share\u00a0schemes. There is plenty of evidence that people who take part in car share schemes also end up using public transport more and also walk and cycle more. As such, the sharing economy clearly has much potential in promoting greater use of sustainable transport. We see no reason why the greater use of modern consumer technology in the taxi market could not also play a role in driving overall lower car use and ownership.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you would like to submit your own response to the consultation please visit the Scottish Government website <a href=\"https:\/\/consult.scotland.gov.uk\/licensing-unit\/taxi-private-hire-modern-technology\/consult_view\">here<\/a>.
