{"id":3482,"date":"2016-09-27T10:52:44","date_gmt":"2016-09-27T10:52:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/transform.scot\/?p=3482"},"modified":"2016-10-03T10:55:04","modified_gmt":"2016-10-03T10:55:04","slug":"scottish-government-urged-to-boost-investment-in-cycling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/transform.scot\/blog\/2016\/09\/27\/scottish-government-urged-to-boost-investment-in-cycling\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish Government urged to boost investment in cycling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Transform Scotland today signed a letter\u00a0to Finance Secretary Derek Mackay MSP to call for\u00a0more investment in cycling and cycle infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, signed by a number of third sector\u00a0organisations, was sent in response to the recent statistics published by the Scottish Government which showed that journeys made by bike in\u00a0Scotland have fallen to 1.2%.<\/p>\n<p>The statistics show that the Scottish Government has a long way to go to meet the target of having 10% of journeys made by bike by 2020. To meet this target, we have urged Derek Mackay to invest more heavily in cycling, which currently only receives 1.8% of the transport budget.<\/p>\n<p>To help meet this target, we want to see 10% of the Scottish transport budget being allocated to cycling.
