{"id":3824,"date":"2017-02-08T15:22:59","date_gmt":"2017-02-08T15:22:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/transform.scot\/?p=3824"},"modified":"2017-02-08T15:24:37","modified_gmt":"2017-02-08T15:24:37","slug":"transform-submits-evidence-on-the-climate-change-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/transform.scot\/blog\/2017\/02\/08\/transform-submits-evidence-on-the-climate-change-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Transform submits evidence on the Climate Change Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Transform Scotland has today submitted evidence to the ECCLR and REC Committee on the Policies and Proposals for transport in the draft third Climate Change Plan.<\/p>\n<p>The evidence papers highlight the shortcomings of the draft Climate Change Plan and makes a series of recommendations to reduce transport emissions whilst developing a fairer, more sensible transport system.<\/p>\n<p>Criticisms of the proposed actions on reducing transport emissions include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Too dependent\u00a0on technological improvements and factors outwith the Scottish Government&#8217;s control<\/li>\n<li>Too reliant on Proposals to reach some of the Policy Development Milestones<\/li>\n<li>Lacking in focus and specificity on the need for modal shift to active travel and public transport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our main recommendations for improving the draft CCP are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stronger policies to increase walking and cycle at the local level<\/li>\n<li>Increased investment in bus priority measures in urban areas<\/li>\n<li>Stronger commitments to implement demand management measures<\/li>\n<li>Greater effort from the public sector in leading the way on reducing transport emissions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To read our submission to the REC Committee, see <a href=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/RPP3-CallforEvidence_RECComittee.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To read our submission to the ECCLR Committee, see <a href=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/TransformScotland-EvidencetoECCLRCommittee.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Transform Scotland has today submitted evidence to the ECCLR and REC Committee on the Policies and Proposals for transport in the draft third Climate Change Plan.
