{"id":3909,"date":"2017-03-15T10:28:07","date_gmt":"2017-03-15T10:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/transform.scot\/?p=3909"},"modified":"2017-03-15T10:28:07","modified_gmt":"2017-03-15T10:28:07","slug":"government-urged-to-be-bolder-in-climate-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/transform.scot\/blog\/2017\/03\/15\/government-urged-to-be-bolder-in-climate-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Government urged to be bolder in Climate Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Transform Scotland has issued a briefing on the draft Climate Change Plan (CCP), urging the Scottish Government to commit to more action on active travel, buses and demand management.<\/p>\n<p>The recommendation come ahead of a debate on the CCP in the Scottish Parliament this Thursday (16th), when Parliament will consider the recommendations of the four committees which have took evidence on the CCP.<\/p>\n<p>Transform Scotland has made a number of criticisms of the draft CCP, namely that it is at present too dependent on the use of private cars, technological solutions, and factors outwith the control of the Scottish Government.<\/p>\n<p>Transform\u00a0has recommended putting greater emphasis on walking, cycling, buses and road traffic management in the final CCP to achieve\u00a0ambitious carbon reduction targets whilst delivering a range of wider benefits, such as improved public health and reduced congestion.<\/p>\n<p>Transform was pleased to see that the Rural Economy and Connectivity (REC) Committee were also supportive of similar proposals for the final CCP.
