Transform today prepared a parliamentary briefing ahead of today’s debate on ‘Delivering sustainable and renewable transportation’ debate led by the Scottish Conservatives’ transport spokesperson Jamie Greene MSP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The briefing makes the case that there is ample opportunity from the Scottish sustainable transport sector for reducing climate emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The briefing also notes that technology alone is not sufficient to deliver sustainable transport. Action much also be taken to reduce the need for travel, including, where appropriate, road traffic demand management measures. This includes parking management, vehicle bans, and economic instruments such as Road User Charging and Private Non-Residential Parking Levies (e.g. Workplace Parking Levies).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
