In June Transform Scotland was approached on behalf of the International Business School in Suzhou, China. They were doing a tour of railways in the UK for student professionals on a leadership course, all of whom work for CRRC, the world\u2019s largest railway manufacturer. They had seen our website and asked if could we do a session for the students when they came to Scotland.<\/p>\n

Chris Day, Transform Scotland’s Policy Advisor, today met the student group of over 40 people at the City Chambers in Edinburgh. After an extemporised introduction to the City Chambers, reflecting the students\u2019 obvious interest in the venue, Chris went through a presentation covering what Transform Scotland is, transport issues in Scotland, and what we campaign for. From the questions asked, it was evident that the visitors were particularly interested in the role of a third sector organisation in challenging and forming national policy, our relationships with governmental bodies, the concept of voluntary action, and how organisations like ours effect change.<\/p>\n

After that, the students were off to Linlithgow for a presentation by David Shirres on developments in Scotland\u2019s railways and a trip on the canal! Elsewhere on their UK tour, the group visited Crossrail in London, Transport for London, Heathrow Express, Paddington Station, Train FX, Garrandale Rail, Centre for Railway Research and Education (Birmingham), Metrolink, Transport for Scotland, Scotrail, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and others.
