Transform’s enterprise manager Elspeth Wray writes:<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>2020 has been a year of profound change. It\u2019s sometimes a struggle to remember what life was like at the start of the year, but we\u2019ve just published our Annual Report to help make sense of it all.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

We started the year with two main campaign priorities: (1) to tackle the climate crisis and (2) to transform infrastructure spending away from high carbon projects like road-building. We\u2019ve continued this focus throughout the year, promoting a positive vision of where Scotland could be by 2030 and a zero emission transport system for all.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

In March 2020 our attention was of course suddenly diverted to supporting public transport, walking and cycling during the coronavirus pandemic. We advocated for measures to lead Scotland out of lockdown into to a fairer, greener and more resilient transport system. As the pandemic continues we will continue to speak up for passengers and alternatives to car use.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

In partnership with Stagecoach West Scotland, we ran the #lovemybus campaign to promote the benefits of bus travel to health and well-being. As we write, despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, we can confirm that #lovemybus will be rolled out further in 2020-21.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

We also worked in partnership with many other organisations who share our vision. For example, we brought bus companies together to set out a \u2018Vision for 2030 for Bus\u2019, and we continued our project with Edinburgh Napier University, Aberdeenshire and Glasgow City Councils to trial continental-style zebra crossings in Scotland. We also welcomed new members to Transform Scotland. These varied from the University of Strathclyde to local campaign group A96 Action – testament to the breadth of our support.<\/em><\/p>\n

Looking forward, it sounds like the next twelve months could be just as eventful. The continuing pandemic, Brexit, the Scottish Parliamentary elections and COP26 are all coming up and will be sure to keep us busy. We have a great opportunity for a green recovery and we\u2019re excited to work with all of you on making this happen.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
