Recommendations from the Assembly will be put to Scottish Ministers at the end of the process.<\/p>\n<p>In the video, Matt covers three key points on surface transport in Scotland:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Transport remains <strong>Scotland\u2019s most problematic sector<\/strong>, accounting for 36% of total emissions,\u00a0and progress on reducing emissions is non-existent.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The recent commitments on <strong>active travel and public transport decarbonisation<\/strong> are necessary, but alone are not sufficient.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Infrastructure spending plans<\/strong> focussed on road building will lock us into unequal and unjust future high emissions as the car continues to dominate transport spending in Scotland unless this imbalance is urgently addressed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You can watch our evidence in full here:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7L_0KJUxnlg?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Climate Assembly&#8217;s also heard from Professor Jillian Anable from the University of Leeds in an &#8216;informant&#8217; role, who gave an overview of the transport and climate change as well as suggesting some potential solutions. (Jillian was briefly a Transform board member when she was based at The University of Aberdeen.)
