At this event, we discussed <a href=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/blog\/2021\/11\/10\/new-research-shows-government-action-needed-to-shift-anglo-scottish-travel-from-air-to-rail\/\">recent research<\/a> published by transport experts Steer, which found \u2013 contrary to public perception \u2013 that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">taking the train is faster, cheaper, and more reliable than plane or car for Edinburgh-London journeys. The feedback from MSPs will help us to target our public transport campaign messages more effectively, and is invaluable for LNER in their work to promote rail as the best way to travel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Cross-Party Group on Sustainable Transport established<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are pleased to announce the establishment of the new Cross-Party Group on <a href=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/blog\/2021\/11\/25\/new-parliamentary-cross-party-group-established-to-study-sustainable-transport-policy\/\">Sustainable Transport<\/a> for this parliamentary session.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The purpose of this group is \u2018to raise the profile of sustainable transport\u2019, with a particular focus on cross-modal issues, in the Scottish Parliament, and to promote policies and priorities relating to sustainable transport.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.scot\/msps\/current-and-previous-msps\/graham-simpson\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Graham Simpson MSP<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (Conservatives) was elected as Convenor of the new Group, with each of the other parliamentary party groups having one of their MSPs elected as Deputy Convenors: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.scot\/msps\/current-and-previous-msps\/john-mason?qry=john%20mason\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">John Mason MSP<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (SNP), <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.scot\/msps\/current-and-previous-msps\/sarah-boyack\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sarah Boyack MSP<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (Labour) and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.parliament.scot\/msps\/current-and-previous-msps\/mark-ruskell\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mark Ruskell MSP<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (Greens).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Transform was voted in as Secretariat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can read more about the establishment of this Cross-Party Group <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/blog\/2021\/11\/25\/new-parliamentary-cross-party-group-established-to-study-sustainable-transport-policy\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, including a list of its (initial) membership and how you can join.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Union Connectivity Review publication: Our response<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-9760\" src=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-01-at-12.23.49-211x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"211\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-01-at-12.23.49-211x300.png 211w, https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-01-at-12.23.49-720x1024.png 720w, https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-01-at-12.23.49-768x1092.png 768w, https:\/\/transform.scot\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Screenshot-2021-12-01-at-12.23.49.png 834w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 211px) 100vw, 211px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our policy advisor Chris Day prepared a <a href=\"https:\/\/transform.scot\/blog\/2021\/12\/01\/union-connectivity-review-is-not-a-plan-for-improving-transport-connectivity\/\">commentary<\/a> on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/union-connectivity-review-final-report\">Union Connectivity Review final report<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The report summarises what\u2019s needed for better UK transport connectivity.
